New Normal Emerges in India's War on Cross-Border Terrorism

In a defining statement on combating terrorism, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar introduced a 'new normal' strategy following the Pahalgam attack, with India adopting a robust five-point approach to cross-border terror emanating from Pakistan.

During a comprehensive discussion in the Lok Sabha, Jaishankar stressed that India's response to terrorism is now anchored in firm engagements, eliminating the perception of terrorists as proxies, and rejecting nuclear intimidation. He highlighted that dialogue with Pakistan would focus solely on terrorism and underscored that violence and diplomacy cannot coexist.

Rebuffing claims of US involvement, Jaishankar clarified that there was no direct intervention by Washington in resolving the tensions. He debunked allegations of US trade negotiations influencing India's tactical decisions, reinforcing India's autonomous foreign policy stance.
