As the deadline for electoral roll revisions in Bihar looms, the Election Commission reports a surprising lack of involvement from political parties. Since the publication of the draft roll on August 1, no formal requests for changes have been submitted, according to the Commission's latest statement.
Between August 1 and August 3, 941 individual claims and objections were lodged, highlighting personal appeals for either the inclusion of names or the removal of alleged ineligible entries from the voter list. Despite this activity, organized political entities remain silent.
Amidst these developments, opposition parties have leveled criticism at the Election Commission, suggesting that the current roll revision process will disenfranchise a significant number of eligible voters due to documentation issues. The Commission insists no eligible voter will be excluded when the final list is published on September 30.
