Independent MP Pappu Yadav launched a scathing critique against the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday, following its notice to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav regarding his EPIC card information. Pappu Yadav dubbed the ECI a 'suspicious commission', suggesting it operates under the influence of the BJP.
Speaking to reporters, Yadav questioned the motives behind the notice, likening the EC to 'Aladdin's lamp'. He implied that the Commission acts as a BJP mouthpiece, unwarrantedly pursuing Tejashwi for EPIC card clarification after press conference claims surfaced. The electoral officer in Patna demanded Tejashwi clarify discrepancies in his EPIC card number by producing original documents for thorough investigation.
Further condemning the EC's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bihar's electoral roll, Yadav accused both the BJP and ECI of undermining the democratic rights of Bihar's populace. He urged support for Congress, announcing Rahul Gandhi's planned visit to Bihar with the INDIA bloc on August 10, amid mounting electoral list controversies concerning Tejashwi's voter status.
