The National Conference president, Farooq Abdullah, has refuted accusations of an intentional disruption to Jammu and Kashmir's fruit industry following the closure of the Srinagar-Jammu national highway. The seasoned politician attributed the highway blockages to what he termed as 'God's wrath' instead of human interference.
Abdullah, speaking to reporters in Anantnag, posed rhetorical questions wondering if people were responsible for the rainfall and mountain disruptions, implying a divine intervention. Addressing allegations of stranded fruit-laden trucks and the consequent harm to J-K's economy, he indicated a spiritual shortfall among the populace as the root cause.
In a broadened context, Abdullah drew parallels with the geopolitical crisis in Gaza, attributing it to a similar distancing from spiritual values. Meanwhile, he critiqued Kashmir's political landscape, suggesting that local leaders are dependent on financial aid from Delhi, implying that politics in the region is driven by economic sustenance rather than public welfare.
