BJP national spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain has launched a critique against the opposition's Mahagathbandhan, branding it as a 'complete failure.' He accused the RJD of disregarding its party workers and issuing candidate tickets without clear guidelines, asserting that none of the nominees stand a chance of securing victory. The Bihar Assembly elections, covering 243 seats, are set for November 6 and 11, with results to be announced on November 14.
In a conversation with ANI, Hussain stated, 'The RJD's recent candidate list underscores the lack of established criteria in their ticket distribution. The Mahagathbandhan is evidently fractured, as indicated by the candidate list which sidelines loyal party members. There appears to be no viable contender among them who can win.' Earlier, Minister Ashok Chaudhary echoed these sentiments, describing the opposition alliance as 'completely broken.' Despite Nitish Kumar's efforts to form the Mahagathbandhan by granting seats to Congress and RJD, Chaudhary highlighted persistent coordination issues, noting that RJD has 'never been honest' with Congress.
Meanwhile, BJP President Dilip Jaiswal has leveled fresh allegations against the Mahagathbandhan, accusing it of selling assembly election tickets for monetary gains. He claimed the coalition is plagued by internal strife, adversely affecting its governance capacity: 'Bihar's voters are witnessing the infighting and ticket auctioning within the Mahagathbandhan. The alliance has failed to allocate seats appropriately, calling into question its ability to govern,' remarked Jaiswal. Additionally, he criticized Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for allegedly trying to appropriate the 'Jan Nayak' title from Bihar's esteemed former CM Karpoori Thakur, deeming it a slight to the state's backward community.
Simultaneously, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) released its list of 143 candidates, marking the end of extended seat-sharing negotiations within the Mahagathbandhan. The coalition faced a setback as the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) formally withdrew from the polls. The current alliance configuration sees the RJD contesting 143 seats, Congress 61, CPI ML 20, with the remainder likely allocated to Mukesh Sahani's VIP.
