Five Candidates Clear Scrutiny for Mizoram Bypoll

All five candidates contesting the November 11 bypoll for Dampa assembly constituency in Mizoram have cleared the scrutiny process. With preparations in full swing and three observers deployed by the Centre, no complaints of model code violations have been reported. The bypoll follows the death of incumbent MLA Lalrintluanga Sailo.

In Mizoram's Mamit district, all five candidates for the November 11 bypoll to Dampa assembly constituency have passed the scrutiny stage, confirmed a senior election official on Wednesday.

The candidates include Vanlalsailova of the Zoram People's Movement, R Lalthangaliana of the Mizo National Front, John Rotluangliana from Congress, Lalhmangaiha of BJP, and K Zahmingthanga from the People's Conference. Their nomination papers were examined by returning officer Malsawmzuala, as stated by Mizoram Chief Electoral Officer Lalrozama.

With preparations intensifying, three observers have been appointed to oversee procedures. No allegations of breach of the model code of conduct have surfaced so far. The bypoll, prompted by the demise of incumbent MNF MLA Lalrintluanga Sailo, will include 20,790 eligible voters.
