Congress MP Imran Masood found himself at the center of a political storm on Friday after allegedly drawing a parallel between Bhagat Singh and Hamas, sparking accusations from BJP leaders of insulting the people of Bihar. BJP's Amit Malviya claimed this comparison was strategically timed for the Bihar Assembly elections in November.
Malviya pointed out that Bhagat Singh's connections to Bihar were profound, with revolutionaries like Batukeshwar Dutt and Yogendra Shukla linked to Singh's legendary actions. The BJP accused Masood of employing divisive rhetoric for electoral gain, while Congress remains under pressure to address the issue.
Responding to the backlash, Masood clarified to PTI that he did not intend to equate the two figures. He reiterated Bhagat Singh's unparalleled status as 'Shaheed-E-Azam' and emphasized that violence is never justifiable. Accusing the BJP of distorting his words, Masood underscored his respect for Bhagat Singh's ideology.
