Union Home Minister Amit Shah commenced the building of the Bharatiya Janata Party's new Maharashtra headquarters in south Mumbai on Monday.
Accompanied by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Shah laid the cornerstone at a site strategically located near the busy Churchgate railway station.
The development is not without controversy, as opposition voices challenge the legitimacy of the land acquisition. Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut has penned a letter to Shah, questioning whether the land, purportedly designated for residential purposes, was procured appropriately.
