Promises Unkept: Telangana's Auto Drivers Struggle Under Congress Rule

In a sharp criticism, BRS Working President K T Rama Rao accused the ruling Congress party in Telangana of neglecting promises made to auto drivers ahead of the 2023 assembly elections.

He highlighted unfulfilled assurances by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, including financial support and a welfare board for auto drivers. As promised help remains undelivered two years on, the livelihoods of many in the community are threatened, Rao claimed.

Rama Rao noted that auto driver Mashrat Ali, once a vehicle owner, now works as a daily-wage driver due to financial pressures under Congress policies. The issue underscores broader frustrations with government inaction, leading to profound economic challenges for the auto-driving community.
