Sanjay Raut, a leader of Shiv Sena (UBT), has charged that the land for BJP's forthcoming Maharashtra headquarters was initially designated for residential purposes, suggesting that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) expedited the process to clear obstacles.

At the foundation ceremony near Churchgate station, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, alongside Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, officially inaugurated the project. Raut has since reached out to Shah, raising concerns about the accelerated approvals while other civic projects remain stalled.

Rohit Pawar of the NCP called for transparency from the BMC chief, fearing potential precedent-setting for primary properties' transfer to private sectors. In defense, CM Fadnavis clarified that the land purchase adhered to regulations with no concessions involved.
