Tensions Rise Over Special Intensive Revision in West Bengal

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee has raised alarms about the impending Special Intensive Revision (SIR), which he claims is designed to remove voters from the electoral list in West Bengal.

Banerjee threatened mass demonstrations, vowing that one lakh people would march to the Election Commission of India's office if genuine voter rights are infringed.

Meanwhile, Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar revealed that the SIR will take place across 12 states and union territories, with the final voter list expected by February 2026.
