In a striking political commentary, Assam Assembly Deputy Speaker Numal Momin, representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has vehemently criticized West Bengal's Trinamool Congress (TMC), accusing the ruling party of harboring ambitions to transform the state into an 'Islamic state'.
Momin's remarks came as he condemned the actions of suspended TMC MLA Hamayun Kabir, who recently laid a foundation stone for the Babri Masjid in Murshidabad, coinciding with the anniversary of the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition. Momin argues that Kabir's actions are reflective of TMC's broader agenda.
The BJP leader's allegations include claims that TMC, by supporting such actions, aims to appease Bangladeshi Muslim immigrants for political gains. Kabir, however, defended his move by invoking constitutional rights to build religious sites, emphasizing legality in his response to his suspension.
