U.S. Defense Briefing Amid Rising Venezuela Tensions
The U.S. Defense Secretary and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff plan to brief the 'Gang of Eight' lawmakers on upcoming national security actions amid increasing strains with Venezuela due to significant military activity in the Caribbean.
U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine are scheduled to brief the 'Gang of Eight' lawmakers on Tuesday, a source revealed.
This briefing, traditionally reserved for top lawmakers from both parties involved in intelligence and defense matters, comes as the U.S. faces rising tensions with Venezuela following a military campaign targeting alleged drug operations.
The briefing announcement coincides with the deployment of additional U.S. warships in the Caribbean and President Trump's threats against Venezuelan drug traffickers.
