The district of Malkangiri has become a focal point of tension after violent clashes erupted between the communities of MV/26 and Rekhalaguda, following the gruesome discovery of a woman's headless body. Authorities swiftly moved to address the situation by organizing a peace committee meeting to reconcile differences.
At a meeting held at the District Collector's office, Malkangiri Superintendent of Police Vinodh Patil confirmed the commitment of both communities to uphold peace. Malkangiri Collector Somesh Kumar Upadhyay chaired the session, stating that a sense of understanding and trust had been rebuilt as 30-35 representatives took part in the discussions to restore tranquility.
Amidst heightened security and damage to 163 homes, the government banned social media to prevent further unrest. Malkangiri's once troubled waters are now calming, with the district contingent on peaceful resolutions and financial support of Rs 4 lakh from the Chief Minister to aid the victim's family. Recovery efforts and evidence gathering continue at the crime scene.
