U.S. Lawmaker Raises Alarm Over Ivanhoe Atlantic's Chinese Connections

U.S. lawmaker John Moolenaar has publicly raised concerns regarding Ivanhoe Atlantic's alleged associations with the Chinese Communist Party. In a letter to the State Department, he named the company as having direct ties to Chinese state-owned enterprises, putting U.S. national security at risk.

Moolenaar noted that Ivanhoe Atlantic's major shareholder, I-Pulse Inc., is linked to Robert Friedland, also a co-chair of Canadian miner Ivanhoe Mines. Chinese companies own significant shares in Ivanhoe Mines, complicating the landscape further.

Highlighting previous actions by U.S. authorities against these Chinese entities, Moolenaar emphasized the need for U.S. independence from Chinese-controlled supply chains, especially in the mining sector, as the geopolitical implications remain sensitive.
