In a significant diplomatic move, Bangladesh's Foreign Ministry summoned Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma to convey its serious concerns over statements made by Sheikh Hasina, the ousted prime minister currently residing in India.
Hasina, who fled to India amid violent protests last year, was recently sentenced to death by a special tribunal for crimes against humanity. The Bangladeshi government has been pressing for her extradition, emphasizing the potential threat of her alleged calls for unrest during the crucial election period.
The foreign office reiterated the urgency of extraditing Hasina alongside former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, both facing capital punishment, to ensure stability ahead of parliamentary elections.
