In a statement on social media platform X, Mufti, who previously admired Kumar, questioned whether his actions were due to old age or part of a troubling trend of normalizing the public humiliation of Muslims. Her comments indicate the severity of the gesture's impact on communal harmony.
Mufti's remarks also emphasized the disturbing fact that such an incident occurred in front of spectators who appeared entertained. She suggested that it might be time for Kumar, once a respected leader, to step down from his position.
