Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, is set to address a significant gathering of her party's booth-level agents on Monday. The meeting aims to devise a strategy for the second phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) after a staggering 58 lakh names were removed from the state's draft electoral rolls.
This meeting, intended to strengthen booth-level roles, is scheduled for the Netaji Indoor Stadium amidst rising political tensions over the deletions. The TMC's 69,000 booth agents, especially from Kolkata and nearby districts, are called to verify deletions and assist voters in the claims and objections phase.
The party's move follows a closed-door session with Bhabanipur agents after nearly 45,000 voters were removed from its rolls. TMC leaders have emphasized verification and voter assistance, hoping to mitigate the controversy ahead of the 2026 assembly elections.
