A delegation from the Tipra Motha Party (TMP) has called on Tripura's Chief Minister, Manik Saha, to ensure that elections for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) are conducted before the council's tenure ends on April 18.

The TMP, allied with the BJP-led coalition, emphasized the urgency of the elections during a meeting with the Chief Minister at his residence, as confirmed by TMP spokesperson C K Jamatia. The discussion also covered the need to adopt Roman script for the Kokborok language, a move considered vital for the language's development among the state's tribal communities.

The TMP delegation, led by TTAADC executive member Rabindra Debbarma, reported a softening stance from CM Saha regarding the Roman script issue. The CM suggested the delegation consult with educational heads in New Delhi, indicating potential progress in educational policy for the Kokborok language.
