Senior Congress leaders from Tamil Nadu are set to converge in Delhi on January 17 for high-stakes discussions with the party's top brass. The agenda will focus on election strategy, organizational readiness, and seat-sharing arrangements with their long-term ally, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), in anticipation of the 2026 assembly polls.

Addressing current dynamics, Congress MP Manickam Tagore stressed that the session carries significance due to internal pressure for more electoral tickets and a decisive role in governance. He downplayed rumors of friction between the Congress and DMK, asserting that any reports of discord are overstated.

Tagore noted the fluctuating number of seats Congress has contested over previous elections, indicating the ongoing negotiations will be finalized by Congress President Mallikarjun Khadge. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu AICC In-charge Girish Chodankar highlighted the commitment and strategic focus of party workers, emphasizing the importance of grassroots participation and a robust campaign platform.
