Union Minister Ramdas Athawale has called for the BJP to assume the mayor's office in Mumbai, following its victory as the largest party in the recent civic polls.
Despite winning 89 seats, the BJP's ambition is curtailed by its dependence on Shiv Sena, which bagged 29 seats. Athawale expressed confidence in the resolution efforts of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CM Eknath Shinde.
Amidst speculations, particularly after Shinde moved his corporators, the political landscape remains tense. The Shiv Sena eyes the mayoralty, especially in the birth centenary year of Bal Thackeray, adding layers of political intrigue to Mumbai's civic scene.
