Controversy Erupts Over Remarks Against Sonia Gandhi in Kerala Assembly

In a heated session at the Kerala Assembly, opposition leader V D Satheesan has called on Speaker A N Shamseer to withdraw 'derogatory' remarks made against prominent Congress figure Sonia Gandhi. The accusations, levied by three ministers from the ruling CPI(M), have created a significant political stir.

The ministers, M B Rajesh, V Sivankutty, and Veena George, claimed Sonia Gandhi's involvement in the notorious Sabarimala gold loss case. They alleged that the case's main suspect, Unnikrishnan Potty, had links with Gandhi, escalating the political tension.

Satheesan criticized the lack of prior notice and supporting evidence for such claims. Citing past rulings, he urged the removal of these remarks from records to preserve parliamentary decorum and protect Gandhi's long-standing public service reputation.
