On Tuesday, several opposition parties staged a dramatic walkout from the Rajya Sabha, demanding transparency on the Indo-US trade deal. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh highlighted concerns shortly after zero hour, accusing the government of releasing deal details in Washington instead of New Delhi.
Leader of the House J P Nadda countered, asserting that the US President was informed about tariff reductions via social media and direct communication with PM Modi. Nadda criticized the opposition's tactics as a display of frustration, accusing them of politicizing the deal.
Despite assurances from the government for a full discussion and a suo motu statement, the opposition remained defiant. Except for the TMC, all opposition members exited the chamber. The TMC conducted a separate protest over another issue, highlighting growing political tensions.
