The Punjab Congress chief, Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, has strongly criticized the AAP government's ongoing anti-drug drive, labeling it a failure following the tragic death of a policeman's son in Amritsar. Allegations suggest the young man died from a drug overdose, although police have yet to confirm any link to drug use in the incident.

The deceased, a 26-year-old recent returnee from a drug de-addiction center, was found unconscious near a local gurdwara and later pronounced dead at the hospital. His grieving father initially blamed drug availability in the area but later retracted his statement, admitting his emotional state influenced his accusations against the state government.

Warring asserted that both the Punjab government and the BJP-led Centre have inadequately addressed the drug menace, criticizing the focus on publicity over practical de-addiction programs. The Congress leader emphasized that comprehensive de-addiction initiatives are essential to effectively combat the drug crisis in Punjab.
