Border Tension: Cambodian PM Urges Thai Cooperation

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet informed Reuters on Tuesday that Thai military forces are allegedly occupying Cambodian territory post last year's conflict, despite a peace agreement affixed by ex-U.S. President Donald Trump.

Hun Manet has called upon Thailand to permit a joint boundary commission for resolving their disputed border while attending a peace meeting in Washington. Despite a December ceasefire, Manet describes the situation on the border as 'fragile.' Thailand, however, claims its troop positions are part of de-escalation measures, denying occupation.

This underscores the risk of reigniting conflict, despite Trump's advocacy of his peace deal. Hun Manet is urging cooperation sooner post-Thailand's election, hoping it will aid Cambodian residents' return and respect Cambodian sovereignty.
