In a significant reshuffle within the West Bengal Cabinet, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has taken over the law department from Moloy Ghatak, according to a notification from the state home and hill affairs department. Ghatak, who has so far handled both labor and law, will now concentrate solely on the labor department.
Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress leader Babul Supriyo, recently elected to the Rajya Sabha, has stepped down from his role in the state cabinet. This change leaves the departments of information technology, industrial reconstruction, and public enterprises without a leader, temporarily placing them under Banerjee's management.
The state government is anticipated to soon announce a formal decision regarding the reallocation of these vacant portfolios, according to a state secretariat official.
