A local BJP leader, Trilokesh Dhali, was critically injured after being targeted in a shooting in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district. Police reports indicate that the attack occurred near Sagar Island, where motorcycle-borne assailants fired two rounds at Dhali's stomach.

Following the attack, the assailants quickly fled the scene, leaving Dhali in a serious condition. Dhali received initial medical attention at a local hospital before being transferred to Kolkata for further treatment.

The incident occurred between the Gangasagar and Sridham bus terminuses, under the Gangasagar coastal police station's jurisdiction. Authorities continue to investigate the case to apprehend those responsible for the brutal attack.
