In a piercing critique of India's diplomatic stance, Congress Rajya Sabha member Shaktisinh Gohil accused the government on Thursday of yielding to US pressure, particularly allowing President Donald Trump to meddle in domestic matters such as oil purchases.

Gohil, during a crucial discussion on the Ministry of Rural Development's operations, also lambasted the US-India trade agreement for marginalizing Indian farmers. He urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address Trump's assertions about resolving Indo-Pak tensions, asserting that the opposition would back him if he declared Trump's statements as false.

Gohil raised concerns over India's diminishing global respect, citing incidents of Indian deportations from the US and questioned the imposition of US sanctions on Russian oil purchases. He provocatively cited a former prime minister's stance on national sovereignty and expressed apprehension about the rural repercussions of disrupted gas supplies due to the West Asian war.
