The ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) has significantly reshuffled its candidates for the forthcoming West Bengal assembly elections. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee unveiled the list, dropping 74 sitting MLAs, a strategic move intended to mitigate anti-incumbency while preserving its organizational robustness.

The party plans to contest 291 out of 294 seats, leaving three to its ally, Bharatiya Gorkha Prajatantrik Morcha. The reshuffle suggests a strategic blend of fresh faces with existing leaders to maintain a balance between continuity and generational change.

The contest in Bhabanipur, where CM Banerjee will face off against opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari, is highlighted as a major battlefield.
