West Bengal Polls: BJP Eyes 'Change' Amidst Tense Showdowns

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is framing the upcoming West Bengal assembly elections as a pivotal moment for change, according to BJP leader Dilip Ghosh. Criticizing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Ghosh highlighted her opposition to the Election Commission, Supreme Court, and other institutions, questioning her stance against bodies enforcing strict laws.

Ghosh, who is set to contest from Kharagpur Sadar, emphasized that the elections, occurring on April 23 and 29, will be a battleground for the state's future. This period will also witness significant contests, such as between BJP's Suvendu Adhikari and Banerjee in Bhabanipur, and Adhikari's candidacy in Nandigram.

On the other hand, the Trinamool Congress (TMC), led by Banerjee, is navigating internal shifts, notably with the exclusion of former Education Minister Partha Chatterjee, replaced by Ratna Chatterjee for Behala Paschim. Continuing its alliance strategy, TMC has allocated three seats to the Bharatiya Gorkha Prajatantrik Morcha. Meanwhile, BJP has announced its first list of 144 candidates, setting the stage for intense electoral battles.
