Suvendu Sarkar, the BJP candidate from Kumarganj, was allegedly manhandled by supporters of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) during the first phase of the West Bengal assembly elections on Thursday.

The altercation took place as Sarkar made his way to a polling booth following reports of chaos purportedly stirred by TMC supporters in the vicinity.

According to a BJP leader, the tension escalated, resulting in an attack on Sarkar as he approached the school premises where the polling was being held.
