In a dramatic political development, several Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MPs, including Raghav Chadha, have defected to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), triggering backlash from across the political spectrum. Former Rajya Sabha MP and Congress leader Husain Dalwai has vocally criticized this move, arguing that it undermines democratic values and flouts the Constitution.

Dalwai, addressing news agency ANI, censured AAP for filling its Rajya Sabha seats without regard for ideological alignment. He condemned the act of elected representatives switching sides without resigning as an affront to political integrity and a mere pursuit of power.

Meanwhile, Congress MP Jairam Ramesh has openly derided the BJP's strategy, comparing it to a 'washing machine' for political turncoats. The defection led to AAP losing a substantial portion of its representation in the Upper House, while the party’s MP Sanjay Singh has petitioned for the disqualification of the defectors, challenging the constitutional validity of this merger.
