In an unprecedented decision, the Election Commission of India has announced a complete re-election in the Falta Assembly constituency of West Bengal. Scheduled for May 21, this action responds to significant electoral discrepancies reported during the April 29 polling.
A spokesperson from the Election Commission confirmed that all 285 polling stations in the constituency, including auxiliary stations, will undergo fresh polling. The decision underscores the gravity of the reported 'subversion of democratic process.'
Authorities have also initiated re-elections in 15 polling stations in other districts, highlighting broader concerns over polling integrity in the recent West Bengal elections. Results for the remaining seats are expected to be declared after the May 4 count.
