The Congress party on Sunday unveiled a major reshuffle in its Jharkhand unit by setting up a 36-member political affairs committee. This move, aimed at strengthening the party’s strategic direction, includes significant figures like state chief Keshav Mahto Kamlesh and incarcerated former minister Alamgir Alam.
The party's reorganization also features the formation of multiple committees such as those on delimitation, and a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) which will soon take place. The shake-up is a part of a concerted effort to cement the Congress's influence in the Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC), a key player in the ruling JMM-led coalition.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge approved the comprehensive overhaul that includes crucial appointments and the establishment of a coordination committee, campaign committee, and election management committee. The restructuring extends to various leadership roles, with appointments of 16 vice presidents, 43 general secretaries, 81 secretaries, 44 joint secretaries, and 37 coordinators.
