Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is once again proving his political mettle by leading in the Jalukbari constituency with a notable margin of 7,748 votes over his nearest competitor, Congress candidate Bidisha Neog, as reported by the Election Commission.
Sarma, who secured 11,821 votes against Neog's 4,073 by the end of the second round of counting, is on track to win the constituency for a sixth consecutive term. This marks another landmark in his political journey that began in 2001, following an initial electoral defeat in 1996.
The BJP leader's influence in Jalukbari has been consistently increasing, culminating in a record victory margin of 101,000 votes in the 2021 election, thereby solidifying his stronghold in Assam's political arena.
