In a landmark political shift, the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) achieved a sweeping victory in the 2026 Kerala Assembly Election, marking a significant comeback after a decade-long hiatus. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor described the verdict as 'historic' and a 'tremendous' endorsement of the UDF.

Tharoor commented that the victory, potentially securing over 100 seats, surpassed expectations and reflected a robust desire for political change among voters. He emphasized that the outcome could alter India's political landscape, signifying the decline of the Left's last stronghold in Kerala as the UDF crossed the majority mark in the 140-member assembly.

Emphasizing the voters' call for transformation, Tharoor highlighted the need for better governance and economic growth. Addressing concerns like unemployment and migration, he stressed the importance of job creation to retain young talent in Kerala. He dismissed speculation about his leadership ambitions, reaffirming his role as an MP in Delhi.
