Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam Set to Break DMK-AIADMK Stronghold in Tamil Nadu
Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has made a remarkable entry in Tamil Nadu's political arena after winning 108 seats in the state assembly elections, falling just 10 short of the majority needed to govern. Now, TVK seeks alliances to solidify its position as the leading party and form the government.

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has officially requested a meeting with Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Arlekar to discuss the steps for government formation. Following their impressive debut in the assembly elections, TVK has emerged as the single largest party, securing 108 seats in the 234-member assembly.
Despite its significant win, TVK is 10 seats shy of a majority. Party sources indicate ongoing discussions with political leaders to gain the necessary backing, potentially collaborating with parties such as Congress, PMK, and various Left entities. This unexpected shift challenges the historic dominance of both the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK).
The electoral outcome notably affected DMK leader and outgoing Chief Minister MK Stalin, who accepted defeat in Kolathur against TVK's VS Babu. Out of all competing parties, the DMK secured only 59 seats. The Governor has asked Stalin to remain in office until TVK assumes control, marking a new chapter in Tamil Nadu's political landscape.
