Congress Weighs Support for TVK's Government Formation

The Congress leadership has directed the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) to finalize its stance on supporting TVK chief Vijay in government formation, reflecting the state's electoral sentiments. General Secretary K C Venugopal highlighted that Vijay seeks inspiration from past Congress hero Kamaraj in his political aspirations.
Venugopal emphasized that the Congress remains committed to installing a secular government in Tamil Nadu, explicitly aiming to thwart any involvement by the BJP or its allies. Vijay's request aligns with the party's ideological objectives, as noted in a statement on the platform 'X.'
Despite Congress securing five assembly seats in the recent elections—compared to major coalition partner DMK's 59—the leadership appears willing to back Vijay’s TVK, which won 108 seats. This potential alliance, however, could stir friction within the Secular Progressive Alliance.
