In the aftermath of a significant victory in the recent Kerala Assembly elections, Congress engages in strategic discussions concerning the selection of the new Chief Minister. AICC observers Mukul Wasnik and Ajay Maken have been actively meeting with Congress MLAs to gather their opinions on potential leadership candidates.
Addressing the media post the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting, Wasnik emphasized the exhilaration surrounding the Congress's triumph, describing it as both 'remarkable' and 'historic.' Despite being pressed for specifics regarding the Chief Ministerial selection, Wasnik remained noncommittal, reiterating the objective of gathering various viewpoints.
The CLP has unanimously resolved to empower the Congress president with the final call on the leadership role. Observers are set to report back to the party high command in Delhi who will ultimately decide the suitable candidate for the Chief Minister position, with top contenders including V D Satheesan, Ramesh Chennithala, and K C Venugopal.
