AIADMK Stands Firm Against Confidence Motion

The AIADMK has firmly decided to oppose the TVK government's upcoming confidence motion, senior party leader Agri S S Krishnamurthy announced on Tuesday. He stressed that all party MLAs have been instructed to vote accordingly, warning of legal repercussions for any cross-voting.
Addressing media queries, Krishnamurthy emphasized the possibility of invoking the anti-defection law if members lean away from the party directive. Meanwhile, O S Manian and other MLAs supporting Edappadi K Palaniswami reinforced the party's unity, dismissing rumors of internal divisions.
The current crisis marks a significant power struggle between Palaniswami's leadership and a rebel faction led by C Ve Shanmugam and S P Velumani. This rebel group, favoring TVK and Velumani’s leadership, challenges the existing order within AIADMK, underscoring tensions in the state's political landscape.
