T T V Dhinakaran, leader of the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK), announced the disqualification of MLA S Kamaraj following his support for the TVK government during a decisive floor test.
The AMMK, part of the NDA alliance with AIADMK, BJP, and PMK, had only managed to secure a victory in the Mannargudi constituency in the recent Tamil Nadu elections. Kamaraj defeated senior DMK leader T R B Rajaa by a margin of 1,566 votes in this constituency.
Dhinakaran accused Kamaraj of betrayal after he unilaterally supported the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. The AMMK leader alleged 'horse-trading' and insisted TVK's acceptance of Kamaraj's support was legally questionable. He emphasized the importance of unity within the party, citing the legacies of AIADMK founder M G Ramachandran and former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
