In a significant political shift, former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Ritu Jaiswal joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bihar on Tuesday. Her induction was held in Patna in the presence of the BJP's state president Sanjay Saraogi and Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Dilip Kumar Jaiswal.
Jaiswal previously contested the 2024 Lok Sabha polls from Sheohar on an RJD ticket and had run as an Independent in last year's state elections. She expressed admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts to embrace people from diverse ideological backgrounds.
Highlighting government initiatives like Ayushman Bharat and Kisan Samriddhi Yojana as examples of inclusive governance, Jaiswal's joining is perceived as BJP's strategic move to garner support within the Talwar community, classified as OBCs.
