Hungary's Prime Minister Peter Magyar declared on Facebook that he intends to meet European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to finalize a political agreement for releasing frozen European Union funds.

Magyar, who arrived in Brussels on Thursday, seeks to negotiate the unfreezing of EU funds halted during the tenure of the previous government helmed by Viktor Orban.

The meeting, scheduled for 1100 GMT, is pivotal for improving Hungary's fiscal operations, hindered by the previous administration's policies.
