The Congress party in Dimapur launched a protest on Saturday, voicing their discontent with the escalating prices of petrol and LPG. They criticized the BJP-led government, accusing it of placing an unfair financial load on ordinary citizens.
During the event, state Congress working president Apok Jamir argued that the government's misgovernance was causing public hardship and urged citizens to voice their dissent against these issues. He promoted the need for a 'revolution' to push the government to prioritize public welfare over unfavourable policies.
Jamir called on not only Congress members but also civil society to lobby their elected officials to oppose the ongoing price hike. He stressed that lawmakers should communicate to the central government that their policies are detrimental to the interests of the Naga populace.
Dimapur district Congress president Kutoho Chishi highlighted that the protest was intended to protect the people's interests. Recent adjustments showed petrol and diesel prices escalating by Rs 2.61-2.71 per litre, marking a fourth rise within two weeks due to international oil price trends.
