The Arunachal Pradesh BJP has reiterated its support for Chief Minister Pema Khandu amid a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe mandated by the Supreme Court. The party rejected rumors about his resignation despite the ongoing investigation.
These assurances come after reports suggested that Khandu might step down due to allegations involving public work contracts worth around Rs 1,270 crore allegedly awarded to firms linked to his family members. State BJP leaders, however, affirmed their unity and respect for the legal process, stating that no leadership change is under consideration.
State BJP president Kaling Moyong emphasized the importance of waiting for the investigation's outcome before making any leadership decisions. Party leaders also expressed their belief in the judiciary's eventual clarity on the matter and addressed disciplinary actions against those spreading misinformation regarding Khandu's alleged resignation.
The Itanagar district unit of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha lodged a police complaint against a media outlet for allegedly spreading false claims about Khandu's political future, aiming to destabilize the region's political stability.
