In a candid discourse on Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin shared his standpoint on the ongoing Ukraine conflict, peace compromises brokered with U.S. President Donald Trump, and the prospect of remaining in office until 2036.

Speaking to senior editors, including Reuters personnel, in St Petersburg, Putin asserted the compatibility of controlling Donbas with reaching peace deals. He emphasized that compromises discussed with Trump could serve as a basis for peace with Ukraine and urged their acceptance.

Addressing concerns about his tenure, Putin reiterated his constitutional eligibility to serve another term but stated it remains too premature to discuss. Additionally, Putin defended the measures taken to stabilize Russia's economy against inflation, highlighting significant growth compared to the EU.
