Political Tensions Rise as Lalu Family Ordered to Vacate Iconic Residence

In a move stirring political tensions, the Bihar government has significantly reduced the security detail for former Chief Ministers Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi, who have also been ordered to vacate their iconic residence at 10 Circular Road in Patna. This follows the state's decision to allocate the bungalow to Bihar Minister Nand Kishore Ram.

At a recent public event in Sheikhpura, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary criticized the perceived entitlement of former officials to government property, asserting, "The Chief Minister's residence belongs to the people. It cannot be treated as anyone's personal fiefdom or ancestral property."

The Yadav family's association with the residence has underscored the Rashtriya Janata Dal's political legacy, creating a charged backdrop for the government's 15-day deadline for eviction. Rabri Devi has staunchly resisted the order, highlighting the enduring contention surrounding political occupancy of state-owned properties.
