The Rouse Avenue Court has extended the judicial custody of Shubham Khairnar, accused in the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak scandal, until June 15. Khairnar appeared in court as his previous custody period ended.

Simultaneously, the court has reserved its decision on the bail plea of another accused, Manisha Waghmare, until June 9. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) opposed her bail, alleging her role as a conspirator who acquired and disseminated the leaked exam paper.

CBI claims that Waghmare plotted with retired teacher Prahalad Kulkarni and Dhananjay Lokhande to access and share the exam content. The defense argued her role as an educational consultant, denying any incriminating evidence from searches. As Waghmare suffers from vertigo, the court advised her lawyers to file a medical condition application. NEET UG 2026's re-exam, following its cancellation due to the leak, will have heightened security measures on June 21.
