In a dramatic turn of events for the Trinamool Congress (TMC), Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Sukhendu Sekhar Ray has stepped down from his parliamentary post and primary party membership. Ray's exit comes amid ongoing internal strife within the party, exacerbated by its recent electoral defeat in the West Bengal Assembly elections.

Ray delivered a scathing critique of the TMC's 15-year governance, led by Mamata Banerjee, attributing their election loss to rampant corruption, lawlessness, and failures in essential sectors such as health, education, and employment. He cited the public's verdict as a rejection of the 'anarchical rule' by the TMC, expressing support for the BJP's newfound mandate in the state.

Adding fuel to the political fire, Ray commended the initiatives undertaken by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following their electoral victory. His resignation coincides with rumors of a possible division involving 20 Lok Sabha MPs from the TMC, driven by expelled MLA Ritabrata Banerjee's faction, which has been vocal in its criticism of TMC's leadership under Abhishek Banerjee.
