BJP leader V. Muraleedharan voiced strong opposition towards Kerala Chief Minister VD Satheesan's remarks on the participation of three Vice-Chancellors in a program addressed by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. Terming the statement as 'ridiculous', Muraleedharan demanded its retraction during a gathering in Thrissur, emphasizing that no law forbids attendance at RSS events.

Muraleedharan highlighted the RSS as a patriotic entity engaged in national service, asserting its wide recognition across India. He urged the Chief Minister to retract the statement to avoid ridicule, noting the RSS's status as a credible and substantial organization within the voluntary sector.

Meanwhile, Kerala BJP President Rajeev Chandrasekhar joined in the criticism, lambasting Satheesan's statement as unbecoming of a Chief Minister sworn to uphold law and Constitution. He pointed out an irony in Satheesan's lectures on secularism, given his associations with parties hosting religious-driven agendas. The controversy underlines political tensions around secularism and vote-bank strategies.
